Stacey Edwards

Utilities Reliability and Energy Transition Program Manager

Stacey is managing “BIG RED”—the Utilities Reliability and Energy Transition program whose goal is to move Cornell’s Climate Commitment forward by transiting Cornell’s District Energy system away from fossil fuels.  Cornell’s District Energy system uses central plants to generate heat, cooling and electricity which is distributed across the campus. BIG RED is in the planning stage weighing legitimate solutions (ie actions that decrease CO2 emissions versus those that just move emissions offsite), and the strategic use of finite resources to focus the university’s efforts on projects with the greatest decarbonization potential.  Stacey has been at Cornell since 1999, spending 25 years as the Utilities Plant Engineer doing many capital projects that increased plant efficiency and reliability. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Stacey holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and is a certified Project Management Professional.  Part of a multi-generation engineering family (father, husband, children—including Kathleen, Cornell College of Engineering Class of 2023) there are many energy discussions over dinner.  She enjoys biking, swimming in Seneca Lake, reading and advocating for Public Libraries.
