Beth Lyon received her Juris Doctor at Georgetown University Law Center. She is a practicing lawyer and, alongside her students, advocates on behalf of low-income asylum seekers, farmworkers, and farmworker families in local, state, federal and international fora. Beth’s students have won permanent immigration status for thousands of people, including unaccompanied minors, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in back pay and medical care for low-wage-workers. The co-author/author of two books and numerous scholarly articles and book chapters, Beth is an international expert on the human rights of migrants and language minorities. Her current research focuses on anti-immigrant speech by governments. 

Beth is a member of the bar in the State of New York, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia. She serves on the Boards of Justice in Motion, and Latina/Latino Critical Legal Theory, Inc. 

Beth lives on an old farm with her husband and three cats.
