Robert Sternberg

Bob Sternberg is professor of Psychology in the School of Human Ecology at Cornell. Bob did his BA at Yale, his PhD at Stanford, and then spent 30 years as a professor of psychology and education at Yale. He then worked as a university administrator for 8 years in 3 different universities.  

He is the originator of the triangular theory of love and the theory of love as a story, and has written and edited a number of books on love. Bob has collaborated with his wife Karin Sternberg, PhD from Heidelberg University, on two of his books on love, and Bob is author of Adaptive Intelligence, published by Cambridge University Press in 2021.

Bob’s major research interests, besides love, are in human intelligence, creativity, wisdom, leadership, and styles of learning and teaching.
