Gary Koretzky

Interim Vice Provost for Research, Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Professor Emeritus of Microbiology and Immunology at the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine

Gary Koretzky is interim vice provost for research, a professor emeritus of medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, and a professor emeritus of microbiology and immunology at the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine.  Gary was an undergraduate at Cornell and is particularly pleased to be a Keeton House fellow as he spent the summer of 1976 doing field research with Bill Keeton!  After graduating from Cornell, Gary completed an MD and PhD (in Immunology) at Penn, did medicine and rheumatology training in San Francisco, and then held faculty positions at the University of California, San Francisco, University of Iowa, University of Penn, and now Cornell.  His career focused mostly on basic immunology research studying how immune cells become activated.   He also held various leadership positions in Schools of Medicine.  At Cornell, Gary has been the Dean for Research and Dean of the Graduate School at Weill Cornell, a Vice Provost based in Ithaca building programs between the campuses and the inaugural director of the Cornell Center for Immunology.
