Danielle Obisie-Orlu
Graduate Resident Fellow
Danielle is a 3rd year doctoral student in the Government department studying International Relations (IR) and International Law (IL). Travel, global citizenship, and storytelling for social change are a huge part of her life as she is a first-generation American born in Washington, DC to Nigerian parents, and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studies the politics of memory, specifically how collective memories of trauma exist, are reproduced, and have power in politics through international law, institutions, solidarity movements, and recognized discourses. Additionally, she studies international legal interventions on migration and migrants’ access to justice. Along with a love of diplomacy, international politics, and experiences as a “third-culture-kid”, Danielle is a former poet laureate and actress, loves exploring new cities, and teaches public speaking and the importance of global citizenship to youth!
