Assistant Deans

Serving on a leadership team of House Professor/Deans and Assistant Deans (ADs), the AD co-directs the 1900 bed residential college system and is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing operational policies and procedures in cooperation with other units and departments that support the House System. The AD works in consultation and close partnership with the House Professor-Dean in implementing the House mission. In this role, the AD manages House and House System operations, administrative processes and systems, budgets, and provides critical administrative and logistical support for House academic programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Community Organizing, Higher Education Administration or other appropriate field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant educational leadership position, or some equivalent combination of the two.
  • Demonstrated experience in community building, leadership, supervision, crisis intervention, conflict management, outreach, and engagement including work experience with culturally, socially and economically diverse communities
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  • High level of competency in basic desktop programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) as well as database, budget and website management.
  • Able to live in the house and interact on a regular basis with students and staff. To meet these requirements, the House Assistant Dean is provided with a furnished two-bedroom apartment, a parking permit, and basic internet service and utilities (excluding cable service). The incumbent and immediate family members also receive an academic-year house meal plan for the purpose of dining with students, staff and other work- related contacts in ways that support their role as House Assistant Dean
  • Demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.  
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant educational leadership position.
  • Experience in Restorative Practices/Justice, student learning outcome implementation and assessment, budget management, student records and information systems are highly preferred.

Administrative Coordinators

The Administrative Coordinator provides administrative support for the House Professor-Dean and the Assistant Dean of the House and manages the administrative and logistical aspects of House programs and services, including House Office management of mail and package services, key and card access, program and event support, and House Office Assistant supervision.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or 2 years of related college coursework and at least 4 years' experience in business management, customer service, event planning or related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, problem solving, multitasking, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, resolve problems using sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Outlook.
