Amanda Carreiro

House Assistant Dean

A photograph of a woman with medium-light skin and short gray hair, smiling. She is wearing earrings, a black insulated vest, and glasses on top of her head..

As House Assistant Dean, Amanda hopes to facilitate a sense of belonging and well-being for each resident in Becker House. Her office is across from the House Office. Stop by any time with concerns, questions, etc. or if you just need to talk.

Amanda is a Cornell alumna (Human Development) and completed her Master’s at UPenn in Applied Positive Psychology. Amanda loves helping students find ways to enrich their lives and enhance their well-being.  She enjoys teaching positive psychology and has coordinated programs on topics such as mindfulness meditation, resilience training, sleep hygiene and study skills.

Before coming to Becker House, Amanda spent ten years working with international graduate students at Cornell. And long before that, Amanda competed in a variety of Frisbee sports. She competed in the team sport, Ultimate Frisbee, for 23 years and coached the Cornell Women’s Ultimate team. She also competed in a variety of obscure solo Frisbee sports at the national and world competition levels.  While retired from competition and coaching, she continues to enjoy Frisbee sports on a casual basis.

Amanda lives in Becker House with her two dogs, Alfie and Jasmine (Jazz), and has a son who is a senior at Union College.
