Living in Becker
Becker House was designed to support a vibrant intellectual community of roughly 370 upper-level students. Study spaces are plentiful in the House; use of the three study rooms, a printer lab, a small library and the seminar room on the ground floor are ideal ways for residents to get out of their rooms to study without needing to leave the building.
There are communal spaces throughout the House where residents can lounge with friends, do laundry, play ping-pong, and enjoy the company of their Becker neighbors. There is a TV lounge, laundry room and multi-purpose/common room on the ground floor. Kitchens are found on every other floor in the residential areas of the House: a common resource, students are expected to clean up after using the space, use only their own food/belongings, and label (name and date) any food they store in the refrigerator.
Pianos are available in the Becker multi-purpose/common room, dining room and in the music practice room on the ground floor. In the common room, one can enjoy the 1937 Steinway baby grand piano given to Becker House by Helen "Happy" Reichert '25.

As the communication hub for the House community, the House Office is your first stop for assistance. The House Office is located off the main lobby in the South Wing of Becker. While the House Office serves as our mail room, it offers much more than just mail. The House Office is where you can learn about events happening in the House, borrow shared resources, and troubleshoot facilities issues that might come up. In addition, at the House Office you can get assistance if you are locked out of your room or have misplaced your keys or ID card. Don't be shy about stopping by to ask questions!
