Amanda Carreiro
Assistant Dean
Amanda Carreiro is the Assistant Dean of Becker House. A Cornell alumna with a degree in Human Development, she later earned a master's degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her career, Amanda has focused on supporting students and building strong communities, from working with international students and their families to facilitating workshops on well-being, resilience, emotions, and personal growth.
One of Amanda's lifelong passions is Frisbee. She spent more than 20 years competing in Ultimate Frisbee and other disc sports and coached the Cornell Women's Ultimate team for many years. While retired from competition and coaching, she still enjoys throwing a disc around whenever she can just for fun.
Amanda lives in Becker with her two dogs, Alfie and Jazz, who love meeting students. Outside of Becker, you'll often find her at CrossFit, exploring a hiking trail, traveling, reading a good book, antiquing, or spending time with friends and family. One of my favorite parts of working in Becker is getting to know students and being part of their Cornell journey. Whether you want to talk about academics, life goals, challenges you're facing, or just share a great dog photo, her door is always open.
